Web content¶
iObeya allows you to add external content directly in your boards.
Add a preview to an online Excel file, your website, a Youtube video or use PowerBI to embed content in your board.
Our team assure you that you can add web content from the following websites:
- Microsoft Documents (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) from Sharepoint Online,
- Microsoft PowerBI Dashboard with the appropriate PowerBI licence,
- Google documents (Doc, Spreadsheet, Slide) from Google Drive,
- Youtube videos,
- iobeya.com (e.g iObeya cloud platforms, resource center).
Note
Other web content might not work depending on your organisation’s or the website’s policy.
Adding Web content¶
From an embedded code¶
Add the Web content tool to your dock before using it.
Tip
See this section for more information: Adding New Tools.
Click Web content in your dock.
Drag and drop to your board.
Enter an embedded code.
Note
Retrieve this embedded code from the sharing button of the target website.
The embedded code has to be an iframe. It contains <iframe> and </iframe> in the code.
Click Save.
From a URL¶
Add the Web content tool to your dock before using it.
Tip
See this section for more information: Adding New Tools.
Click Web content in your dock.
Drag and drop to your board.
Enter a URL.
Note
Retrieve this URL from the sharing button of the target website.
The URL must begin with “https”.
Fetching the URL directly from the search bar might not work. The URL has to authorize embedding to work.
Click Save.
Interactive Web Content¶
You can click on the switch button present in the bar at the bottom of your web content to start or stop interacting with the content inside your web content element.
You can also double click on the web content to activate interactive mode.
Note
From the contextual menu, select Open in a new tab to access your external content in a new tab if you can’t interact with it from your iObeya board.
Limitations to web content visualization¶
Some contents may not appear on your board for various reasons:
The content is protected and you need to be connected to the website to visualize it in iObeya.
If you connect to iObeya using the same SSO as the one used to connect to your web content, you do not have to connect to the target website.
Cookies are essential for the Web content tool to display content.
If the cookies are blocked you will not be able to visualize your content. Cookies can be blocked for several reasons:
- your organisation blocked the use of cookies,
- you are using the private navigation,
- you are using an navigator add-on that block cookies.
When web content is used to display videos in Mozilla Firefox, you may not be able to interact with the video for security reasons. By default, Firefox loads subframes from different sites in their own processes to ensure that their data and memory are isolated from each other. This provides protection against malicious sites that might attempt to execute an attack to gain access to the data from the other site available in the memory.
